Jnaneshwar's Gita, Swami Kripananda. List: $18.95 ~ Our Price: $18.95. This translation was prepared for Gurumayi Chidvilassananda, who comments:
To write a commentary on the Bhagavad Gita, the inspired song of the Lord Himself, is not a task for just anyone. It is therefore our supreme good fortune that a great saint, a being who has realized the Lord, expounded its divine teachings. Jnaneshwar Maharaj . . . made his human body a vehicle for exalted service to all of mankind as well as to God.
An Excellent, Illustrated Book for Practice & Inspiration An excellent book for Yoga practioners and enthusiasts! The text is clear and leads the reader into the Sanskrit terms for a variety of asanas (postures). Photographs of the lithe and sensual Mehtas (we presume) are also excellent though their perfect postures can be discouraging to the first-timer--but fear not, for only practice can make perfect! The final chapters, which deal with Yoga history and philosophy are equally excellent--a high quality trade paperback that is both a workbook and a reference tool. A book to be revered and referred to often.
Rating=10: Better than Seven Habits. This is the best book on time management I have ever read. "First Things First" puts "Seven Habits" into action. It takes the "Habits" principles--sometimes a bit too abstract (and obtuse) and shows you how to put them to work. If you find you don't have time for the people and things that are really important in your life, read this book. If you take the suggestions seriously, you will never again short-change what you love. And, if you do, you will be at least be aware of your choices. A word of warning, though: Covey has an entire catalogue of products to sell you to support "First Things First," but the company does seem to be committed to "principle centered" business.

The Vedantic basis for effective education. If you have stumbled into knowing what Upanishads - also sometimes known as Vedanta - are, you don't want to miss reading this lucid presentation in English. What is more, the author skillfully observes, by quoting the American psychologist William James, how the essence of the Upanishads can form a basis for fundamental education of the human mind.
Enlightening classic for those in search of wisdom of life Regardless of the reader's religious orientation, any person serious about the purpose of human existance will find this book worth repeated readings. A thoughtful reader will be rewarded with numerous gems of wisdom. . . .[T]hose who value Stephen Covey's "The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People" may find [that] . . . Covey teaches one how to live effectively, whereas Sogyal Rinpoche enlightens us on the very purpose of life itself, from the point of view of Tibetan Buddhism. READERS BEWARE: this is certainly a book that can change lives!
