Learning to Practice
Q. What does it mean to "practice"
meditation?
A. Very few people first sit down at the
piano and play
beautiful music. It takes time. Meditation must be
practiced,
just like the piano. In time, with patience and diligence,
the
mind clears. Stress is reduced. Your life gradually becomes
more tranquil.
As your thoughts slow down, you are more likely to
experience
inspiration, creativity and a quiet sense of power.
Q. How long have you been at
this?
A. Peter Bloch, a Harvard-educated lawyer and administrative judge (see his picture) has meditated for 10 years and has:
- helped form The
Foundation for the Future in
1987 and has given
workshops and retreats for 3 to 42
people
- has learned
and practiced Gestalt techniques and taken many
experiential courses
and
- has
completed nine months of personal Gestalt therapy.
Q. What is Gestalt therapy?
A.Gestalt
teaches aliveness,
awareness and
the importance of each precious moment. Unlike other forms of therapy, it works
with this moment, rather than the past.
