Mother Teresa, A Simple Path: Mother Teresa.(Sister Theresina and Sister Kateri, p. 25): From what I have found, there is just too much noise in modern life--and because of this many people are afraid of silence. As God speaks only in silence, this is a big problem for those searching for God. Many young people, for instance, act instinctively and don't know how to reflect.
Matthew 6:5-6, The Message: The New Testament in Contemporary English, Peterson, p. 19:And when you come before God, don't turn that into a theatrical production either. All these people making a regular show out of their prayers, hoping for stardom! Do you think God sits in a box seat? Here's what I want you to do: Find a quiet, secluded place so you won't be tempted to role-play before God. Just be there as simply and honestly as you can manage. The focus will shift from you to God, and you will begin to sense his grace.
Matthew 5:14-16, The Message: The New Testament in Contemporary English, Peterson, p. 16: You're here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. . . . I'm putting you on a light stand. Now that I've put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand -- shine! Keep open house; be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you'll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.
Joshua in the City, Joseph F. Girzone, p. 166: Life is sacred, especially human life. It mirrors God, and each individual is a unique creation destined to perform a certain necessary work. From the first spark of its existence it is sacred, and must be treasured, like the discovery of a rare seed of an extinct plant that flourished a half million years ago and now, having been recently found, is capable of resurrecting that species once again. The uniqueness of that seed is nothing compared to the uniqueness of a human. Each human being is not just another human being that is replicable and therefore disposable. It is a unique creation and will never again be replaced, nor will its function be replaceable.
Joshua in the City,Joseph F. Girzone, p. 166:It is not easy being poor. Though money is the cheapest thing on earth, it is the means to the fulfillment of so many dreams, good dreams. People who have been blessed with much must help others who have little to find the means to attain their dreams. Not caring about the shattered dreams of others is a horrible sin when my Father has given some people so much and they hoard it for themselves. People don't realize that, when they are called to answer for their use of my Father's gifts to them, He is not going to ask them how much they made, but how much they gave away, how they channeled His goodness into the lives of others in need.
