Reflections (Page 2)
Stories from the Mahabharata, Darshan #114, p. 16:Yudishthira never said, "This is the answer to your question." He said, "In my opinion, this seems to be the most satisfactory answer." One feels that one can borrow a leaf from the book of this king and learn to give opinions in a gentle and tactful manner, never offending the hearer. It was a great art which Yudhishthira had mastered, the art of gentleness, the desire not to hurt anyone, not even with his words.

Swami Chidvilasananda,Darshan, 115 at pp. 42-43:Why do we meditate again and again? It is to bring the mind to its source, to bring the mind to its place. As we go within ourselves, the mind literally drops into its right place. You know how it is when your feet fit comfortably into a pair of shoes? In the same way, when the mind falls back into its source, you feel so comfortable, you feel so good, you feel so relaxed. This is why we make the attempt, again and again, to go within ourselves -- so that the mind finds its real seat, its real place, its Consciousness.

Swami Muktananda,Darshan, 115 at p. 42:You spend hours in gossip and never worry about it. Then you sit for meditation for while and you're so concerned you say, 'I sat for meditation for half an hour. My knees ached, my back ached, my mind wandered, I thought of this. This came to me, that came to me. This came up, that came up.' You make such a fuss over it! Half an hour of meditation -- and complain, complain, complain. Five hours of gossip -- it's fine. It doesn't bother you at all!

Indian Chief to the governor of Pennsylvania, 1796:We love quiet; we suffer the mouse to play; when the woods are rustled by the wind, we fear not.
