Macintosh OS

The MacOS (of any version) is the software that makes a Mac run (kinda like DOS and Window...only better). Most versions currently being distributed are compatible, however, many customers have older Macs (remember the SE/30?) and subsequently, older versions of the system software. Below is a list of all versions of the system software, and whether they will work with our software.

System 6.x.x

This software is ancient, and is completely incompatible with ours. They need to upgrade to System 7.5 or better.

System 7.0.x

This software is out of date, and is incompatible with ours. They need to upgrade to System 7.5 or better.

System 7.1.x

This software is old, but is compatible with our dialler; however, System software prior to 7.5 did not ship with a MacTCP control panel. They will need to acquire their own copy of this. (Perhaps from a friend?)

System 7.5 and System 7.5.1

This software is completely compatible with ours, provided all of it is installed.

System 7.5.2

This software can be made to be compatible with our dialler, but has more bugs than you'd care to count. Rather than make 7.5.2 work with our software, it's far easier to upgrade to 7.5.3. Simply call Apple at 1-800-293-6617, ext. 984 and ask for it. They charge $15 to $25 for it.

System 7.5.3

This software is completely compatible with ours, provided all of it is installed.

System 7.5.5

This software is completely compatible with ours, provided all of it is installed.
