System Freezes


What it is

So you're system's locking up, eh? Well, you'll be glad to know that this has only about a thousand different causes. I've only bothered to list the ones that really matter, because if all else fails, you can always advise them to contact Apple for a clean install of the System software. The phone number is 1-800-SOS-APPL, and it has been known to perform wonders. For now, let's try these ideas:

Procedure

  1. If the system is freezing when they click on the "Connect" button, it's almost a certainty that there's an extensions conflict.
  2. Determine which program the freezes appear in and remove and rebuild the associated preferences file.
  3. Check the Netscape Disk Cache. If it's too large, clear it.
  4. Remove and re-install the Erol's software
