Error of Type -39

What it means

Errors of type -39 occur for one reason and one reason only. It's an "Unexpected End Of File (EOF) marker error. Which may mean that either the EOF marker isn't there or is possibly in the wrong place. Regardless, what it boils down to is a corrupt file. If the error is generated by a piece of software other that one of the ones that Erol's ships out (for instance, if the Finder can't open due to an error of type -39), have the cus call 1-800-SOS-APPL. This is Apple's Tech Support line, and WE CANNOT TROUBLESHOOT IT.

If it occurs in the ConfigPPP, FreePPP Setup, the MacTCP, the TCP/IP, or in Netscape, it's probably a corrupt preferences file. If you follow the procedure for the corrupt preferences file and it makes no difference, the program itself is corrupt and needs to be reinstalled. If the corrupt file is the FreePPP Setup, the ConfigPPP, or Netscape all the Erol's software needs to be removed and re-installed..
