Introduction
What is FES? How can FES help me? Will FES help me
walk again? These are just a few of the questions that
are frequently asked by our Hotline callers.
The term Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) can
be applied to a wide variety of research and treatment
approaches. This Factsheet describes the various kinds of
FES systems being used and researched today. It is
intended to educate our constituents about available FES
rehabilitation treatments that might prove beneficial in
improving physical function after a SCI.
