RESULT:
DRIVERTIME
CP Class Winner:60.419
Me: 60.419 GRIN
FTD ('84 FF Reynard): 50.615
Technical course, Very tight, I'd
guess the designer drives a Miata,
Prelude, CRX, or Mini. Had the car
instramented with a Geez Cube:
1st: 0.6 G
2nd: 0.5 G
Braking: 0.85 G
Left: 1.2 G
Right: 1.05 G

Second Autocross WNE(05/04/2003, Rosecroft):
SETUP(same as 4/27 except):
  • Shocks set 14 of 14 clicks in from full soft
    Front & Rear.
  • Tires: Toyo 245 45 16, Proxes T1-S
    (street tires).
  • Tire Pressure: 33.5 Psi Front/32 Psi Rear.

RESULT:
DRIVERTIME
CP Class Winner:52.698
Me: 52.698 GRIN
FTD (1970 White
Lotus Europa (EM)):
43.087
Tight technical course, lots of
sand and gravel down on the surface,
Spun on each of my first two runs, coned
on my forth run, but had a clean third
run. I MIGHT have broken into the 40s
on my last run, but over cooked one turn,
got the car pushing, and both coned AND
lost a lot of time. Running on street
tires CAN be educational.

Third Autocross WNE(06/01/2003, FedEx):
SETUP(same as 5/04 except):
  • Tires: Goodyear Biasply Slicks 23.5x10.5-16, 240 compound
  • Tire Pressure: 33 Psi Front/32.5 Psi Rear.

RESULT:
DRIVERTIME
CP Class Winner:55.861
Me: 60.314 OUCH!!
FTD 2003 Purple
Fritzler ft03 (BM):
50.455
Very serpintine course, slick surface,
put a real premium on putting the power down
coming off of turns. Something I seem to be
having trouble doing. This was also the first
course I've used 2nd gear on. Looks like
I may have reached the limmits of the Spax
shocks for this application. Also, I notice
that the panhard rod is not sitting level so
its time to do a little bracketry fabrication.

Forth Autocross WNE(06/08/2003, Rosecroft):
SETUP(same as 6/01 except):
  • Tire Pressure: 32.5 Psi Front/32 Psi Rear.

RESULT:
DRIVERTIME
CP Class Winner:52.113
Me: 54.223 GRIN
FTD: tbd
A more open course, but STILL not enough room
to use 2nd gear effectivly (tried it, but 1st
was faster and I wasn't running out of revs).
Lots sand and gravel down on the surface,
nearly spun on of my first run. Fun course
drove much better, am learning to cope with the.
current handling querks as I plot how to fix them.

Fith Autocross WNE(06/21-22/2003, FedEx Field SCCA National Tour):
SETUP(same as 6/08 except):
  • Tire Pressure: 28.5 Psi Front/28.5 Psi Rear.
  • Made bracket to move the axle end of the Panhard
    down 2.5"

RESULT:
DRIVERTIMEs Day 1 / 2
CP Class Winner:56.615 / 50.789
Me: 62.593 / 57.796
A more open course, but STILL not enough room
to use 2nd gear effectivly (tried it, but 1st
was faster and I wasn't running out of revs).
I really like the course and gained a LOT of
confidence in the handling of the car with the
newly almost level Panhard Rod. Got my A$$ kicked
but learned a LOT! Might have gotten closer on
day two had I remembered to put my hood pins in
for my last run (BLUSH).

Sixth Autocross WNE(07/06/2003, FedEx Field):
SETUP(same as 6/21-22 except):
  • Tire Pressure: 30.5 Psi Front/30 Psi Rear.
  • Moved Axle end of Panhard down another 5/8".
  • Removed door panles/drilled door structer: -5 Lbs.
  • Removed hood hinges: -8 Lbs.
  • Moved engine breather catch tank to right
    rear of the engine compartment.
  • Removed rear quarter windows & regulators/
    Drilled supporting structure and installed
Lexan rear quarter windows: -25 Lbs.
  • Total weight reduction: -38 Lbs.

RESULT:
DRIVERTIME
CP Class Winner:60.848
Me: 63.185 GRIN
FTD: 54.547 Caterham
Super 7 (DM)
A more open course, actually had enough
room to use 2nd gear effectivly. Handling much
better. Cut over 2 seconds off of the June 1st
differential.

Seventh Autocross WNE(07/20/2003, FedEx Field):
SETUP(same as 7/06 except):
  • Tire Pressure: 30 Psi Front/29 Psi Rear.
  • Moved seat down 1".
  • Adjusted clutch for less free play.
  • Newer used slicks (about 1 year old with 95%
    of tread left).

RESULT:
DRIVERTIME
CP Class Winner:55.266
Me: 57.567 GRIN
FTD: 51.574
2003 Purple Fritzler
FT03 (sports racer) (BM)
A really fun serpintine course, all first gear.
About the same differential as the 7th, but the
car was easier to drive (I dopped about 0.4 sec
backing off way too soon on a corner entry
during my last (and fastest) run).

Eighth Autocross WNE(7/27/2003, Rosecroft):
SETUP(same as 7/20 Except):
  • Tire Pressure: 30 Psi Front/29 Psi Rear.
  • Old slicks (about 5 years old with 25%
    of tread left).

RESULT:
DRIVERTIME
CP Class Winner:43.762
Me: 48.355 Ouch!
FTD: 41.023
1970 White Lotus
Europa (EM)
A really fun serpintine course, all first gear.
Old tires and LOTS of gravel on the course left
me sliding ALL OVER the place.

Nineth Autocross WNE(8/10/2003, FedEx Field):
SETUP(same as 7/27 Except):
  • Tire Pressure: 29.5 Psi Front/29 Psi Rear.
  • Newer 23.5" x 10.5" Goodyear Slicks
(about 1 year old with 95%
    of tread left).

RESULT:
DRIVERTIME
CP Class Winner:59.809
Me: 62.053
FTD: 54.213
1971 Green Zink
C-4 (FM)
A really fun (long) serpintine course, all first
gear. Very similar to the National Tour course,
also laid out on Lot A at FedEX, the extra room
really made for a fun time. There were spots on
course where having more shock damping would have
let me use a lot more power and pssibly 2nd gear.

Tenth Autocross WNE(9/14/2003, FedEx Field):
SETUP(same as 8/10 Except):
  • Tire Pressure: 31.5 Psi Front/31 Psi Rear.
  • Toyo T1-S 245 45 16 Street Tires.

RESULT:
DRIVERTIME
CP Class Winner:52.298
Me: 59.261
FTD: 47.564
1970 White Caldwell
D9 (CM)
A really fun (long) serpintine course, all
first gear. Running on the street tires was
very instructive but not real fast.

Eleventh Autocross WNE(9/21/2003, Rosecroft):
SETUP(same as 9/14 Except):
  • Tire Pressure: 29.5 Psi Front/29 Psi Rear.
  • Older 23.5" x 10.5" Goodyear Slicks
(about 5 years old with 10%
    of tread left).

RESULT:
DRIVERTIME
CP Class Winner:42.187
Me: 46.898
FTD: 37.337
1990 Red Caterham
Super 7 (DM)
Real CP style Course, Actually
got into 2nd Gear! Used up old
Slicks.

Twelth Autocross WNE(9/28/2003, Rosecroft):
SETUP(same as 7/27 Except):
  • Tire Pressure: 31.5 Psi Front/31 Psi Rear.
  • Toyo T1-S 245 45 16 Street Tires.

RESULT:
DRIVERTIME
CP Class Winner:46.319
Me: 49.028
FTD: 41.480
1990 Red Caterham
Super 7 (DM)
Tight, technical, and short a Miata owner's
dream. Still lost of fun to be had.

Thirteenth Autocross WNE(10/19/2003, FedEx Field):
SETUP(same as 9/28 Except):
  • Tire Pressure: 29.5 Psi Front/29.5 Psi Rear.
  • Newer 23.5" x 10.5" Goodyear Slicks
(about 1 year old with 85%
    of tread left).

RESULT:
DRIVERTIME
CP Class Winner:52.654
Me: 53.303 (GRINN)
FTD: 47.925
1979 Green Caterham
Super 7 (DM)
Fast but technical course. Many of the
ESP cars had trouble with some of tighter
turns, but I think this was a matter of
braking points and line choice, because
I had a greate time with the narrowest
gap to the class winner yet with Ol'Beastly
against the serious competition.

Running some events on street tires has reall
REALLY helpd smooth out my driving.
