Shorinji Kempo Technical Pages
Pressure Points

The use of vital points (keimyaku hiko) is central to the most effective employment of most Shorinji Kempo techniques. The vital points recognized and used in Shorinji Kempo are a subset of the ones defined on acupuncture's 14 meridians. The vital points can be used to heal, but they can also be used to cause disabling pain without permanent injury.

These pages are provided to assist advanced Shorinji Kempo students in memorizing the locations of the most important few dozen points. The diagrams shown in the two pressure point study pages were assembled by me as copies of the ones in the official Fukodoku-hon.

Pressure Point Diagrams
This page contains five large diagrams that illustrate the pressure points on the arms, legs, head, and torso (front and back). Any web browser can visit this page.

Note that these diagrams cannot substitute for training with your instructor and practicing use of these pressure points with your fellow students! These pages are meant to help you memorize the names of the points, and their general location on the body.
