Trash Pickup:
Garbage and trash are picked up twice a week, normally on Monday and Thursday, by the City of Laurel.  Where you place your collections are dependent upon where you live. Trash containers may not be placed in the designated pick-up area until 6:00 PM. the evening prior to trash collection and removed from that area the evening of pick-up.  These containers must be stored inside your unit or in the back yard at all times.

  • Neither trash nor leaves may be burned at any time.

  • No unreasonable accumulation of trash, litter or building materials may be kept in the rear yard of the unit.
  • Trash containers must be stored in the rear year only, except that they may be stored in garages for those units built with a garage.
  • Trash may not be stored outside the unit in only plastic garbage bags.
  • Trash cans must have securely fitting lids.

The city also provides bulk pick up, lawn waste, and leaf collection services.  Check out the schedules for trash and recycling pickups in the Laurel area.

Recycling:

The City contracts with Browning-Ferris, Inc. to provide recycling services. The contractor provides one bin per residence in single-family homes. If you have more than one bin will hold, the excess should be placed in paper grocery bags and set out beside the bin.

The City's program provides collection for most paper materials, including newspaper, newspaper inserts, junk mail, telephone books, computer paper, magazines and books. All paper materials must be clean and dry and may be tied into bundles with string or placed in a paper grocery bag. The program also accepts corrugated cardboard and lightweight cardboard boxes. All cardboard must be in pieces no larger than 2 feet by 2 feet, and must be bundled. Please separate paper from other recyclable material in the bin.

What else goes into the bin to be recycled?

Cans

All food and drink cans.  Rinse and crush before putting into the bin.

Plastic

All food and drink bottles and jars.  Remove lids, rinse and crush before putting into the bin.

Glass

All clear, green and brown bottles and jars.  Remove lids and rinse before putting into the bin.

For more information about recycling, check out Laurel's web site on recycling.

Snow Removal:
The City of Laurel is responsible for plowing the streets within our community.  This does not include the indented parking spaces.  The Homeowners Association clears the sidewalks.  Home owners are responsible for clearing the walkways from their homes to the sidewalks.

Oxford Drive is a designated Snow Emergency Route.  During a Snow Emergency, parking is prohibited on the even numbered side of designated City Snow Routes. All other posted parking restrictions remain in effect. Parking is prohibited on both sides of the street along State and County Snow Routes.

Cars parked illegally along Snow Emergency Routes may be ticketed, towed and impounded at the owner's expense and risk. If your car is towed, call the Laurel Police Department at 498-0092 for release information. Also, the use of snow tires or chains is required to operate a vehicle during emergencies.

Check out the City's website for additional information.
