"An error occurred while sending data. The modem may be turned off or your cable may not support CTS flow control"

If you actually manage to get this error, Congratulations!! This message only comes up when using a terminal window, and actually means pretty much what it says. I say "pretty much", because occassionally, you'll see it on an internal modem, which obviously has no modem cable. Regardless...

The Steps

  1. Click on "Exit" to get out of the Terminal Window
  2. Click on "Accounts"
  3. Click on "Edit"
  4. Click on "Connection"
  5. Set Flow Control to "None"
  6. Click on "OK"
  7. Give it another shot

If for some reason that doesn't solve the problem (but I've never seen it not work), zap the PRAM.
