   Acquisition Integration
GE Capital is a huge, international company that has expanded into very diverse areas from providing financial services to leasing overseas shipping containers. Their "growth through acquisition" philosophy has made them one of the largest and most successful companies in the world. During my tenure at GE one of my many roles was to support these acquisitions by integrating them into the GE TIP/Space system.

"Some" of the tasks required during the integration phase:
All assets must be added to inventory (trailers, buildings, steps, etc)
Customer base absorbed and renumbered
Purchased leases added to Billing system
Acquired invoices must be loaded into system
Receivables and/or Payables added to system
Inventory cost valuation and subsequent depreciation
Lease proration calculation - must be established at contract signing
Due diligence support - units may be scattered across the country
Assign acquired entities to branches or create new branch locations
Create new company if necessary (Done for ATCO Canada acquisition)
Create Customer Acquisition notices immediately
Language support for Customer A/R Statements (English, French, etc)
Marketing support - Mass Mailings, Labels, Demographics, etc.
Parallel integration with new Oracle, PowerBuilder and VB systems
Have everything completed for the Weekly Billing Run!
NOTE: Both Transamerica and Modulaire were $150,000,000+ acquisitions. A missed billing run is considered a major catastrophe and could yield some pretty heavy losses. You won't find this kind of pressure during a Peoplesoft conversion!

        Acquired companies include:
Transamerica Leasing
Atco (US/Canada)
Carpenter
Intercan
Elder
Express Trailer
Carolina
Diamond
Markham
Acorn
Modulaire (WMI)
Guest
USRY
Roger Carter
Cavco
Lions Gate
AMS
Bobbit
Azco
