The School Art League 95th Annual Awards Ceremony

The Metropolitan Museum of Art June 3,2004

Renee Darvin President of the School Art League began ceremony with Introductions.

 

Kent Lydecker, Associate Director for Education of the Metropolitan Museum warmly welcomed all.

Shirley Taylor, Director of Education, Noguchi Museum, Queens, NY received the Charles Marshall Robertson Award

 

Carol Sterling presented the Marcia Friedmutter Scholarship Award to Nicoletta Karvelas, Fiorello LaGuardia High School,

The St. Gaudens Medal for draftsmanship to honor the namesake of American Sculptor, was awarded to Redzic Dzenan from John F. Kennedy High School, for his contribution to Memoirs: A Family Portrait Project funded by the Bronx Council on the Arts, and Best Buy Childrens Foundation

 

Clara Gomez from John F. Kennedy High School is presented with the Alexander Medal by Diana Cagle, awarded to graduating senior who completed a major art course with distinction. Clara worked on the Acupoint Detector website which became part of the ThinkQuest NYC library.

* Laura Jeffers of EDC visited with the students involved in the ThinkQuest After School Program to interview them to understand their roles in the Collaborative project, and Acupoint Detector project.
* See the students under scrutiny and read their prepared statements presented.
* Both teams met the TQ Rubric standards and were selected as Semi-Finalists in the current contest.
