2. (Capt.) William2 Fowler (William1) was born in England.(9) William died 25 March 1683 in Milford, New Haven Co., Connecticut, at age unknown.(10)

He married twice. He married Mary Tapp about 1640 in Milford, New Haven Co., Connecticut.(11) Mary was born before 1625 in England. She was the daughter of Edmund Tapp and Anne ?. Mary died after 1670 in Milford, New Haven Co., Connecticut, at age 46.(12) He married Elizabeth Alsop Baldwin 1 November 1670 in Milford, New Haven Co., Connecticut.(13) She is the daughter of Joseph Alsop and Elizabeth Preston. He was first in New Haven, and removed to Milford, as a freeplanter with lot #41 of 7 acres 2 rods on east side of river. He was a very important man in the founding of Milford. One of the 7 pillars of the church, a judge, and also in 1643 a Deputy to the General Court. In 1640 he was granted land on the Wepawaug River to build and operate the first grist mill in the New Haven Colony.
