He married Catherine Schmidt before 1862 in Prussia.(789) Catherine was born 23 April 1835 in Germany.(790) She was the daughter of (GNU) Schmidt and Dorothy Hickman.

Philip G. Stern and Catherine Schmidt had the following child:

Lena Katherina2 Stern was born in Berlin Stadt, Brandenburg, Prussia 21 August 1861.(791) Lena died 17 March 1934 in Washington, District of Columbia, at age 72.(792) Her body was interred in Ft. Lincoln Cemetery in Bladensburg, Prince Georges Co., Maryland.(793) She married George Edwin Dutton 27 August 1884 in Cambridge, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts.(794) George was born 18 March 1849 in Newburyport, Essex Co., Massachusetts.(795) He was the son of Benjamin Dutton and Martha Ann Ash.
