Armstrong would marry David Sarnoff's secretary, Marion MacInnis, on December 1st, 1923. The honeymoon was planned - an automobile trip to Palm Beach, Florida. Marion would not make most of the trip, going as far as Trenton before becoming seriously ill. Following an extended hospital stay in Baltimore, she would join him in Florida later that month.

Armstrong, never far from his work, used the trip to test his superheterodyne. Here, he sends a letter to Harry Houck giving him the results of the trip.

The set used during the honeymoon trip was a wedding gift to his bride, and is now in the Ford Museum.
