It can get awfully cold
on the Tibetan plateau...
When I was in Kyrgyzstan two winters
back, I found myself wishing I had a better winter coat, especially when
I found myself in the back of an unheated car, careening through the Tien
Shen Mountains for five hours in the middle of a blizzard. The men of Central
Asia have the right idea in wearing large comfy robes under which many layers
may be worn. I was envious, so I decided to design my own Central Asian
winter coat!
The Tien Shen Coat was designed with comfort and warmth in
mind. The loose construction, with tapered sleeves and wide collar (great
to flip upCruella DeVille styleand wrap with a scarf!) allows
maximum comfort, while the polar fleece fabric, fully lined with washable
silk accents, provides exceptional warmth. Hidden snaps on front will hold
the Tien Shen closed even when the unusual metal
clasps come undone (like when you're struggling
to get in the car with a big handbag, two bags of groceries, an ice scraper,
and fogged-up glasses.) Big enough to pull your arms inside and snuggle
up while you wait for the auto club to come rescue you and your dead battery.
Funky fabric-painted stamped images and silky tassels on collar and front
make each coat a completely unique work of art. And best of allits
washable!
Length, 42 inches.
