Esopus Meadows Lighthouse . Hudson River . New York . Watercolor . 12" x 16"

... several of these lighthouses have survived in and along the Hudson River. This one is unique (on the Hudson) in that it's the only one left with clapboard siding. It sits on 40 foot piers, sunk into the middle of the river bottom and the stone foundation is built on top of the piers. If you're interested, there is an excursion boat out of Kingston, New York, that will take you right up to it as well as the similar, though of brick construction...
