I oppose the Western Washington Bypass in Prince William County
I have opposed constructing the Western Washington Bypass in Prince William County since the beginning. The Bypass corridor, if built in Prince William County, would destroy much of our countyÕs natural beauty and disturb existing homes.
I am on record opposing building the Bypass in Prince William County since 1988 when I voted against this plan and again in 1993. I have been a part of the lead opposition to constructing the Bypass in Prince William County at the state, federal, and local levels. I will continue to lead the opposition to Prince William becoming the home to this Bypass.
The Bypass corridor would negatively affect the Manassas National Battlefield Park and Conway Robinson State Forest Park. Not only would the National Park Service not allow this construction but these parks would be impacted in an unacceptable manner. Once we lose the beauty of these parks and the surrounding green space in Western Prince William, it will be lost forever.
The Western Washington Bypass could also greatly affect the Cardinal Drive/Route 234/Dumfries area if that is where the connection to I-95 is built. I will not allow the Bypass to cause the taking of dozens of homes in Western and Southeastern Prince William County.
Without the support of the people, this project is doomed to fail. The residents of Prince William County have spoken that this project would be much better off being build West and South of Prince William County.
Sincerely
Kathleen M. Seefeldt
