Each year since its revival in 1998, Montgomery County has held a Holiday Parade in downtown Silver Spring on the Saturday before or after Thanksgiving. Each year the Taylor Made Square Dancers, joined by other square dancers, have marched and danced, until 2007. That year, we were not able to participate because the caller's husband Al was recuperating from surgery.
We resumed participating in 2008 with 14 dancers.

Special thanks to Kristine Poptanich, who took the above pictures while her husband, Arthur Taylor, drove the decorated truck with our sound equipment.
In 2009, the parade will be on Saturday, November 21st.
Any square dancers who would like to join us, meet at Betsy's house (8214 Cedar Street, Silver Spring MD) between 7:45 and 8:15 so we can be at the staging area no later than 8:30 a.m. If you can't get to Betsy's house by 8:15, you might be able to meet us at the staging area at 8:30. Give Betsy a call, (301) 589-4868, (cell (301) 919-4248), and she will tell you how to get to the staging area and arrange to meet you there. Betsy's e-mail is BetsyTay@erols.com.
Wear square dance costumes (and appropriate outerwear -- it can be cold) in red, green or gold.
The Parade starts at 9:30 a.m. and the route is approximately 1 mile long. The parade route will begin at the corner of Georgia and Sligo Avenues. The Parade will be broadcast live on News Channel 8. Check your listings to confirm.
After the parade, we return to Betsy's house for refreshments and pictures.
