The following report shows the common descent of Strawbridges and George Washington from Robert de Washington, who was born in England about 1230. The Washington information is taken from the book, The Pedigree and History of the Washington Family, by Albert Welles, published in 1879. Many thanks to Cousin Nancy Gilpin Robertson for pointing out this book to me. I included only enough generations to show the connection; I stopped before coming to living persons. My maternal grandmother, Mary Lowber Strawbridge, appears at number 52i. John Strawbridge, ca. 1749-1793, appears as the spouse of Hannah Evans, number 34. George Washington appears at number 33i. According to my calculations, my relationship to George Washington is that of 15th cousin, 6 times removed.
