The Bozak Now

Where to continue? Well, as the newest member of Bozak productions, I far and away know the least. But, since I'm making the page (based off of Chang's old one) I guess I get to write this.

Well, in a nut shell, the first of the current episodes of Bozak, "A New Hero, an Old Bozak" took place at Katsucon 3. The guys had practiced pretty hard for it, and it certainly experienced its share of problems. Lord Ballz was originally slated to appear in the first episode, but due to the actor not being able to make it to the con, he did not. Instead, he simply became a mysterious voice in episode one, which worked out better than could have been anticipated. It was not until Bozak came to cons that anime referecnces started to creep into it, as well as stuff from comic books, and even sci-fi. Chris had totally transformed it from the original, as he had not only a whole new audience to think about, but also the transition from the screen to the stage, making the production much harder than it was originally.

The second episode of Bozak "Yin and Yang", was originally slated for Otakon that same year, but Otakon was unable to support it, and thus, it found its way back home to Katsucon. This episode had the first appearance of Steven Brock as Ryu-ewe, the first appearance of Marcus Gregory as the evil Chang Ling Fenz clone, and to my mind at least, would set the tone of the coming episodes.

The third episode, "Invisicable Strings" was also slated to appear at Otakon, and again ended up being performed at the following Katsucon. This is where I entered the Bozak picture. I was originally slated to be Sum Yun Gai, but ended up as Tom Ado because Rob Lantz fit the part so much better than I. This episode went over really well, despite a few minor problems, and a serious lack of rehearsal for some of us. It was at this point that Bozak really began to pick up. Enough people had seen it for long enough that they were able to folllow it. The fight scenes were extremely well done, and the plot and effects were better than ever, showing that the Bozak crew had really been learning from past experiences.

Finally, at Katsucon 2000, Bozak had gone back to the screen. The movie, "Bozakpower: Origins" was shown. It was greeted by rave reviews, and applause, and all of the hard work put in by the cast and crew was very evident. The movie was filmed in several locations in Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. The movie itself saw its share of troubles, between poeple who were unable to show up,some who even got hurt during production, and enough cast changes to put Monty Python to shame. Let's not even go into the mishaps with the flying rig. Despite all of this, filming the Bozak movie was a lot of fun. Both The Pickerts and the Brocks were more then generous with their hospitality, and I would like to take this moment to personally thank them. With out their support, we would have had no place to film the movie. ^_^ There was a real sense of comraderie among those who were regularly showing up to put this together. And in the end everyone perservered, and thus, "Bozakpower: Origins" came into being.
