Everyone is cordially invited to the dedication ceremony for the new National Civil Defense/Emergency Management Monument. The dedication ceremony will start at 1:00 PM on April 6, 2002, on the grounds of the National Emergency Training Center, 16825 South Seton Avenue, Emmitsburg, Maryland. Please come early as a security check-in through metal detectors will be necessary.
The National Civil Defense Monument Commission will have speakers, color guard, band, and a patriotic dedication program. With the events of September 11, 2001 so vivid, this will be a great civic program for all to enjoy and show respect to our citizens in the civil defense/emergency management community.
The National Civil Defense Monument Commission will also have a special "Wilton Armetale" commemorative plate with the dedication date. Also, there will be US Flags with a certificate as being flown over the monument on the morning of the dedication. The flag certificates will be signed by the color guard Captain of the AMVETS State Department of Maryland Color Guard certifying the date of authenticity.
