NAVY AIR

Seven aircraft carriers were the subjects of photography which culminated in publishing CITY AT SEA by the Naval Institute Press. The book and images collected covered all aspects of flight training, advanced jet training , helicopter training - - various navy air bases and installations . Shipboard evolutions ranging from flight quarters to mass casualties were covered, with scenes depicting the duties of sailors from bow to stern - - from bridge to engine room - - from chapel to the brig. We like to think we've caught them all in photos - - the brass and the head cleaners - - the "butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker" of these floating steel cities. The book includes some 170 shots, and is an excellent catalog of the thousands of photos our files hold on this subject.

CITY AT SEA and our two coffeetable books on submarines are available at the U.S. Naval Institute.
