Autumn Haze Farm.

Autumn Haze Farm dates back to the turn of the 20th century when the land was purchased by a gentleman named Wesley Peyton ( sometimes spelled Payton ). The original 100 acre partial land was formerly a part of a larger 400 acre Murphy track of land. In 1925 Wes Peyton sold off 38 acres of the land. Wes Peyton built the farm house from timber that he cut off the land. Wes Peyton was in the timber business and lived in the house with his wife, Bertha Thompson Payton until his death in 1963. Betha Peyton died Nov. 7, 1965. Both are burried in the nearby Grigsby " Edgeville" Cemetery. The Peytons raised three children on this farm. The Autumn Haze Farm House remains in a restored condition as it was built. It is typical of early rural Virginia home construction 100 years ago. The Autumn Haze fertile garden area has been tended for this entire period and continues to be tended each summer.
