Thomas Heath, whose father migrated from England, was born in 1646. His wife is unknown. He lived in York County, Va. His son... Colonel Thomas Heath II died in Northumberland County before 1690. He married Mary Lee who died in 1731. Mary Lee was the daughter of Captain William Lee, born 1651, died 1696 in Northumberland County. His wife was Ann ___. Capt. Lee was a son of a colonel Richard Lee. Col. Lee was Secretary of the Colony of Virginia. He also was one of the King’s Privy Counsel and a member of the House of Burgesses for York County from 1647-1651 and for Northumberland County in 1651. Confederate General Robert E. Lee was a descendent from this same family. Thomas Heath III was a son of Col. Thomas Heath and Mary Lee. He was born in Northumberland County and died on Dec. 21, 1727. He married Winifred Jones who died in 1727. She was a daughter of Robert Jones who died in 1703. He was a son of Robert Jones Sr., high sheriff of Northumberland County. Captain William Heath (Hayth) was the son of Thomas Heath III and Winifred Jones. He was born after 1727 and died between Oct. 14, 1774 and April 24, 1775. His second wife was Martha ____. He settled in Bedford County on a large land grant from King George III. In his will dated Oct. 1774, he changed his name from Heath to Hayth. Reason unknown. Lieutenant Thomas Hayth (Heath), was a son of Capt. William Heath (Hayth). He was a soldier in the Revolutionary War and served in the Sixth Va. Regiment. He married Martha Gilbert. He inherited his father’s estate in Bedford County in 1775 and died in 1821. His wife died in 1828. William Hayth, son of Lt. Thomas Hayth, from Campbell County Marriage records, married Mary (Polly) Moorman, daughter of Achilles Moorman. Minister’s records of Rev. Henry Brown list marriage as 10/23/1800.
