Achilles Moorman Hayth was born November 14, 1801 in Campbell County Virginia, and died September 28, 1850 in Springwood, Virginia, Botetourt County. He married Catherine Weber Finch December 22, 1824 in Campbell County, daughter of John Finch and Sally Webber. She was born April 24, 1805 in Campbell County, Virginia, and died January 12, 1877 in Springwood, Virginia.

From a suit filed in 1888 Fincastle, Va., in Botetourt County to settle his estate and regarding the division of his real estate, we learn he had seven children. The court case, A.M. Hayth VS John Q.A. Thraster, reads in the beginning: "To the Hon. Henry E. Blair, Judge of the Circuit Court of Botetourt County: Your orator, A.M. Hayth humbly complaining herewith unto your honor that in the year 1850, Achilles Moorman Hayth died leaving seven children of which your orator was one: to wit: William Boyer Hayth, Sarah F. Thraster, "nee" Hayth, and George W. Hayth. Also a widow, Catherine Hayth: that Achilles Hayth was possessed of large and valuable real estate and died intestate: thereby leaving the said Catherine Hayth wand the seven children as aforesaid his heir at law. (This suit contends at length, to settle the division of property between the various heirs and to discuss the disposition of the share of the estate of George W. Hayth who died intestate in 1864.)

• Lt. Edmund (Edward) Pendleton Hayth, born January 25, 1837 in Springwood, Va.; died March 20, 1893 in Fincastle, Va.; married Ella Nora (Mae) Shafer March 07, 1865, Botetourt County, Va. Ella was born February 16, 1847 in Springwood, Va. and died December 26, 1899 in Clifton Forge, Va.
• William Bowyer Hayth, born June 28, 1827; died August 22, 1892 in Fincastle, Va.; married Sarah Elizabeth Peck November 19, 1851. Sarah was born October 5, 1851; died May 12. William in unknown cencus #1786 listed as Hayth, William 23, overseer (not listed as married 1838-1839.) He was a pupil in Botetourt Seminary. He was buried August 1892 in Slicer Godwin Cemetery, Methodist Church, Fincastle, Va.
• Achilles Moorman Hayth, Jr., born February 5, 1833 in Botetourt County, Va.; died July 10, 1914 in Botetourt County, Va.; married Evaline "Emma" D. Scott May 14, 1857 in Jackson, Virginia, Botetourt County. Evaline was born May 29, 1842; died April 7, 1904.
