The Washington Figure Skating Education and Development Fund

Originating through revenue generated by the 1989 National Figure Skating Championship Competition, the Washington Figure Skating Education and Development Fund is committed to investing its resources in the local skating community. This FUND was created to support competitive figure skating events and programs, and to nurture and increase this region's public participation and appreciation of the sport of figure skating.

Founded as a nonprofit public organization* in 1991, the FUND has advanced competitive skating in the region by supporting the '92 South Atlantic Regional Competition , underwriting several Washington Skating Camps, creating the Washington ProAm dance competition (unique nationally for its multi-year success), funding young competitors, and supporting development programs for underserved skaters. The success of events and innovative programs such as these lead to additional contributions to the FUND from broad public sources.
