Minutes of the Board of Governors Meeting

The cash report for the period 9/1/00 to 10/31/00 shows total income of $38,551.50 and total expenses of $22,153.44 (income minus expenses = $16,398.06). Club sessions continue to operate at a loss: Mt. Vernon Sunday Dance (-28%), Reston Saturday Dance (-23%), Cabin John Monday Dance (-31%), Cabin John Sunday Moves (-51%) and Family (-27%), Reston Sunday freestyle (-58%). The board discussed ways to encourage use of the Sunday freestyle session, including a proposal to offer a special half-price pick-up coupon to adult skaters.
The second draft of the proposed budget for 2000-2001 includes expense categories for a Sports Medicine Seminar ($1,000) and a Party/Invitational ($700). The board voted to approve the budget which projects total income of $108,600 (including $5,000 from return on investments) and total expenses of $107,400.
Membership totals 573 with 525 home club members. There are 90 are new members.
Plans for a Sports Medicine Seminar include three topic areas - nutrition, injury prevention, and sports psychology - through which three groups (under 12, teens, and adults) will rotate. Potential dates include May 20 and June 3. The board is still discussing the possibility of hosting an adult competition in July and will canvass adult skaters on their interest in competing and/or volunteering for the planning committee.
