The Washington Figure Skating Education and Development Fund

Originating through revenue generated by the 1989 National Figure Skating Championship Competition, the Washington Figure Skating Education and Development Fund is committed to investing its resources in the local skating community. This FUND was created to support competitive figure skating events and programs, and to nurture and increase this region's public participation and appreciation of the sport of figure skating.

Founded as a nonprofit public organization in 1991 (a 501(c)(3) enterprise that is wholly independent of the WFSC), the FUND has advanced competitive skating in the region by supporting the '92 South Atlantic Regional Competition , underwriting several Washington Skating Camps, creating the Washington ProAm dance competition (unique nationally for its multi*year success), funding young competitors, and supporting development programs for underserved skaters. The success of events and innovative programs such as these lead to additional contributions to the FUND from broad public sources.

Purposes and Goals
The Washington Figure Skating Education and Development Fund, Inc. is a non* profit public organization whose purpose and resources are dedicated to creating opportunities for people to discover, master and appreciate figure skating on a regional, national or international level. It seeks to fulfill its goals by:

SUPPORTING the educational goals of active skating individuals through scholarship assistance.

SEEKING public and private resources to support the mission of the organization and the public it serves.

Grants Criteria
WFSEDF grants are designed to support diverse projects with a broad impact on the organization's stated goals. Projects must be distinguished by a high standard of excellence, but may be experimental in nature. The project should be completed within 12 months from the time of the award and requests should not exceed $5,000. Awards to individuals will not exceed $1,000, and generally will be for much lesser amounts.

A committee assigned by the FUND will evaluate proposals and requests. Priority will be given to proposals that significantly help to execute the FUND's purposes and goals or have potential for serving as a model for national replication for public outreach and education.

Submit three copies of each proposal in narrative form, to a maximum limit of three pages. Include the following elements, as appropriate:
1. Project summary (not to exceed one page)
2. Rationale, implications and significance
