V. Guided Walks (e.g., one week)
A. Introduction as per III, A
B. General Principles as per III, B, 1
1. The organizer must insure participants against accidents.
2. The Statutes and Bylaws and all regulations of the IVV also apply to the "Guided Walks."
3. The walking programs must clearly present the exact route description and timing. They must contain the remark: "This event is valid for the International Volkssport Award" and must show the IVV logo and the sanction number of the National Volkssport Federation in charge.
4. Correct control points must be established to ensure correct and active participation. Bestowal of IVV stamps for event and kilometer recording must be carefully checked and handled according to IVV Rules.
5. The walking distances per day must be at least 10 km but not more than 25 km. Routes with extreme climbing have to point out the altitude difference of each day.
6. The tour guides must carefully watch the slowest participants. If there are numerous participants, it is recommended tour guides form several groups based on the fitness of walkers.
7. If the IVV stamp is not given each day but only after finishing the whole walking week, the tour guide must keep a checklist proving the active participation of each walker. For the event record, one stamp per day will be given and for the kilometer record the actual kilometers completed.
8. For successful participation, the walker can obtain a Volkssport award as stated in the Rules. Additionally, a patch may be offered.
9. When registered for a walking week, the participant must pay the starting fee, which will be fixed by the Presidium in charge. Prices for lodging must not be included in the starting fee. This starting fee contains costs such as payment for the guide, bus transfers, insurance and Volkssport award. These costs have to be stated separately. Participation must not be connected with the obligation to stay overnight in specific hotels or restaurants.
10. Non-observance of these rules will cause the immediate confiscation of the IVV stamp, and the event will not be validated for achievement of the International Volkssport Award.
