I. General Principles
1. Volkssport events held by member clubs may only be conducted after receiving a sanction from the corresponding National Volkssport Federation. If the organizing club is not a member of a National Volkssport Federation, the sanction must be given by the Managing IVV Presidium.
Sanction may only be given after ensuring the event will be held according to IVV Rules and good sportsmanship.
Appearance of an event in the IVV Calendar of Events does provide a sanction for that event.
2. It is recommended that every organizing club display the IVV flag to indicate the event is an IVV event.
3. Every organizing club must have liability insurance against third party claims.
4. Every organizing club must provide IVV record books and IVV event calendars for purchase.
5. The organizing club is free to create the layout of its event brochure. The club must show the IVV logo on the front page. The club must include at least minimum information about the event. Two copies of the draft of the event brochure must be presented to the National Volkssport Federation. In case the organizing club does not belong to a National Volkssport Federation, the drafts must be presented to the Managing IVV Presidium. Only the final, approved brochure may be printed. One copy of the final brochure must also be provided.
6. Qualifying times and grouping of individuals into categories are prohibited. Timing is not allowed.
7. Participant fees in the following categories will be established:
a. starting fee for pre-registered participants who want to achieve an IVV Volkssport award
b. late registration fee
c. starting fee for participants who do not want an IVV award but only the IVV stamp
These fees must be carefully calculated and kept as low as possible to ensure Volkssport events are open to everyone regardless of their income.
For single member clubs in the IVV not belonging to a National Volkssport Federation, the Managing IVV Presidium establishes these fees in coordination with the organizing club.
Generally, the National Volkssport Federation establishes fees that are binding for all member clubs.
8. Indecent awards that hurt morals or damage the IVV image are not allowed. The approval of Volkssport award designs is reserved for National Volkssport Federations.
9. A continuous start is recommended (e.g., from 6:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.). Finishing time must be set so that each participant will be able to accomplish the offered distances without stress and at a recreational pace.
10. The selling of start cards should be handled promptly. Long waiting times should be avoided. The start card may only be issued to the participant named on the start card. Collective issue of start cards to registered groups is not allowed. All start cards, including those for late-registered persons must show participant's name.
11. The organizers must mark the walking trails clearly to avoid misunderstandings.
12. Control stamps may only be given to participants personally presenting the start cart. Participants showing more than one start card will not receive the control stamp.
13. The walking distance must be marked with necessary instructions such as "no smoking" in the wooded areas, dangerous points (e.g., crossing a main street) or showing places of interest.
14. Participants must be reminded by signs to keep the environment tidy.
15. Throughout the whole walking distance medical assistance must be guaranteed. A physician should be available any time.
