Virginia Volkssport
Association
The Virginia Volkssport Association (VVA) is a Charter Member of the American Volkssport Association (AVA) in the International Federation of Popular Sports (IVV), founded August 18, 1982.
What is Volkssporting?
A volkssporting event is an organized walk, bike, swim, or cross-country ski designed to appeal to everyone of all ages. These events are non-competitive and participants go at their own pace. Everyone who completes the event is a winner!
All participants receive a start card which must
be stamped at control points along the route. Individuals may participate free,
but can purchase the start card in order to enroll in an awards program. Awards
are earned by compiling events in Event Record and Distance Books which may
also be purchased. Completion of the books entitles the individual to a
certificate, hat pin, and patch at no additional cost. There is no time limit
for completing these books, which are good world-wide.
