Open aired questions for viacom/paramount
To: Viacom/Paramount
Subject: Mighty Mouse
These are some open aired questions that I am asking your company on behalf of Mighty Mouse fans everywhere. These questions are regarding what your company plans on doing for Mighty Mouse in the, hopefully near, future. These questions are not mean spirited in nature, these questions ARE truthful ones and I hope that someone in your company can read and respond to these.
Question #1:
As a fan of your licensed character, Mighty Mouse, I would like to know why he is not been seen in a loooooooong time?? Besides the cheese ad last year, 2001, MM is very hard to find. With the comeback of many of the other retro characters, you would think that Mighty Mouse, one of the more popular cartoons in the history of animation, would be a hit these days. Has there been any talk of something done for Mighty Mouse?? Something like a comic book series, a new cartoon series or a movie in the works??
Question #2:
With the popularity of the new Spider Man movie, it seems that the Super Hero theme is becoming more popular. With the success of the way that the film was made (with heavy computer graphics) does your company feel that one can be made for Mighty Mouse?? Your company owns Paramount so do you think that a Mighty Mouse movie can be a possibility??
There was an article on the Aint it cool news.com Web site from 2000 that a Mighty Mouse movie was in the works for Nickelodeon. Is there any truth to this??
Question #3:
Why has there not been a Mighty Mouse movie made already?? Other characters have had one made for them and granted they all have not been a success, perhaps it was due to the fact that they were live-action films dealing with animated characters by nature. I'm not saying make a live-action movie for MM, that would not work, but an animated one would and it would make a lot of money at the box office. If your company does not think so, just look at the popularity of the history of super hero films. Most, if not all, have done very well at the box office.
If your company does not think that people remember Mighty Mouse, just look at the popularity of this Web site in the guest book. Mighty Mouse fans want to see him back. Perhaps it is not only the MM fans who would benefit from a MM movie. Kids would love the character if you gave him a chance.
Question #4:
If your company is not willing to do anything for one of your own licensed characters, why do you hold on to Mighty Mouse and not sell him to a company who would?? He can't be making your company much money sitting on the shelf collecting dust can he?? I'm not saying sell his liscensing to Disney, that would be a mistake, but perhaps to some smaller independent company who would be willing to concentrate on him and do good things for him. A company who knows about his history and would be willing to do things that would make money and success for the character.
Question #5:
Does your company even know anything about Mighty Mouse?? It seems like nothing has been done to celebrate his events such as his 60th anniversary this year, 1942-2002. Nor was anything done for his 50th ten years ago. As far as his fans know there is no DVD out with his cartoons in it and Mighty Mouse cartoons are probably the hardest to find of all cartoons. We don't think that this is fair and the character and us deserves better from your company.
In conclusion, Viacom, I hope that you read this article and can understand these questions and why they were asked. Please do understand that the Mighty Mouse fans respect your company, but you must respect us, the consumer, in return. We DO appreciate the verity of Mighty Mouse shirts and other items that have been seen in some stores lately, but we'd like more and bigger things done for him such as his cartoons on DVD and a movie.
Please do hear my requests out and I'd also like for your company to respond to these questions at vseth@erols.com
I will not post your responses to this Web site unless your company gives me the okay. I'd just like to hear from you and in more than just one sentence please as I took great time and thought to write this article.
Thank you for your time,
Neil Beck (a Mighty Mouse fan)
