The News to date:

BREAKING NEWS STORY! UPCOMING MIGHTY MOUSE FILM!

Brought to you by Pearl Pureheart, WPRL News: (FEBRUARY, 2003)

Mighty Mouse fans. Wanna know what's exactly going on right now with the announced CGI Mighty Mouse movie from Nickelodeon? I've got all the goodies. And it's ALL solid information!

Here's its history, basic details, common knowledge (if you've been paying attention to the news anyway). According to a news press released by Paramount's daughter company, Nickelodeon, just released in the fall of 2002:

A-List director John Woo and his partner Terence Chang, along with Nickelodeon execs Albie Hecht and Julia Pistor (think of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genuius) are backing the project for Nickelodeon Films. It will all be done in CGI (Computer Generated Imagery). The project has officially been given the green-light (the go ahead and make the darn thing). All this info was released by Variety, a reliable industry news source. Okay, there you go. The sum up. Now, time for the REAL scoop. This reporter did some BIG TIME digging (because the curiosity was killing her). So, I got a hold of an inside source DIRECTLY involved with the project. He/She was willing to chat about it (surprisingly). I will keep his/her I.D. confidential (sorry!). Here's what I got: The Mighty Mouse movie has had one year of pre-production artwork done (back in 2000-2001). A great deal of concept illustration was done. A pencil reel (animated pencil test to show the general feeling of character interaction and real-time movemen t in a two-dimensional environment) was done of a proposed short story which was subject matter for the film. The crew working on the film designed numerous characters. This is what took the eleven months. Hey, can't rush an important project like this...

Ah, but what about the main characters? I asked a few Qs and got some insightful answers. They're getting away from the old characters' designs we all know and love. The ONLY character that will be designed and kept true to form is our hero, Mighty Mouse. He will be designed very similar to the original Terry-Toons design (sigh of relief!). The other main characters that WILL be in the movie are Mighty Mouse's true love, Pearl Pureheart (cheer here) and my personal favorite, slick villain, Oil Can Harry. The other characters are totally new. No Mitsy Mouse or Krakatoa Katie, shaking that sarong, either. Oh, and for those folks who remember the Bakshi Mighty Mouse TV series back in the late 1980s? NO SIDE-KICK FOR MIGHTY! Sorry folks, but my source did not go into it further. But, you have to admit, this film ought to be REALLY interesting...

I did get some info on the dialogue news about the movie posted by HSX:

HSX reported that the dialogue would ALL be sung. Like in the really old Terry-Toons cartoons. Can you imagine that? Two hours of cartoon opera? (Groan here.) Well, I checked on it aaaannndddd... The dialogue will NOT be sung! (HUGE sigh of relief here.)

And now, the timeline:

At the time of the original press release (2002), the script was being written for the film. My source said the script is STILL being worked on right now. Personally, I think it's going through draft changes, which is the normal progression of a script. The film is expected to resume pre-production THIS JUNE, 2003. Pre-production? Getting the final budget figured out and all the "above the line" stuff set up (hiring voice talent, choosing score composer and other assorted music accompaniment, etc.). The film is expected to start actual production at the end of THIS YEAR (November/December, 2003). Creation of the CGI usually takes two to four years, depending on the budget. So it's TBA (To Be Announced) projected release date of 2004 is WAY out of line. I'd say look for the film around 2006. (I know, I know, But we can't wait that long! Well, you're gonna have to. Just be glad the film's coming out in the first place.)

Finally, Paramount's idea for Mighty Mouse's future: They want to create a new franchise for Mighty Mouse (like they did with Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius). In other words, the film is a big budget release for re-introducing the Mighty Mouse character and legacy to the public, and then they plan to create a NEW Nickelodeon cartoon series for our favorite super hero rodent to be aired on Nickelodeon.

So, there you have it. Lots of exclusive info brought to you on the Number One Mighty Mouse Fan Site on the Web today! This is Pearl Pureheart for WPRL News signing off.

Have a "Mighty"good night!

"'Mighty Mouse' Movie Script Finally Being Written"

by: Pearl Pureheart,

WPRL News (March 06, 2003) MOUSEVILLE - According to "Variety," Paramount has finally chosen its writers to pen the "Mighty Mouse" movie script. They have chosen Maurice Chauvet and Christopher Vail.

Maurice Chauvet is credited with having written the script for Sony Classics' "Owning Mahowny" (a 2003 crime/thriller/drama about gambling addiction) and written the spec script for 20th Century Fox's remake of the 1967 classic film "The Bride Wore Black."

Both Maurice Chauvet and Christopher Vail are newcomers to the screenplay.

"Mighty Mouse Hanging Around"

by: Pearl Pureheart,

MOUSEVILLE - WPRL News did some digging based about those really big fiberglass Mighty Mouse figures. Some VERY interesting results. The Client who ordered these nine figurines is Canada's premiere movie theatre chain. In other words, if you want to promote a movie BIG time in Canada, you go through these guys. I also looked at the meta tags on the source code for the Website you sent me. Here's what it said:

"Might Mouse Cartoon Fibreglass Figure Lobby Theming Construction in Famous Players Theatres Lobby Displays Multimedia theatre Themed Environments Larger than Life Cartoon Figures Architectural Features Starship Enterprise Model Collossus Movie Theatre Design Company in Toronto Canada"

Translation: Mighty Mouse is going to be displayed (probably hung) as a huge display in the theatre lobbies for either

1: A re-release of the classic MM cartoons (doubtful) or

2: Paramount's gearing up marketing for the new Mighty Mouse Movie with distribution in Canada. Oh, and I took a close look at who did the designs. PARAMOUNT. Not Viacom.!
