This Mighty Mouse story is being written by a Mighty Mouse fan (me, Neil Beck) who often wondered how Mighty Mouse became Mighty, how did he get his powers? Forget the "Super Cheese" theory.
During the Terry-Toons MM series there was a MM cartoon titled "The Cat’s Tale". In this cartoon, at the beginning, a strange figure is walking threw a dark and stormy night, in the woods, caring a basket. When the figure approaches a door, it stops and knocks on the door, we see that the figures hand is green in color and it resembles a witch’s hand, the figure is also dressed like one, although the face is never seen.
Well, I thought, "What the heck, let me try and write my own version of what exactly happened before this strange figure knocks on the door and leaves this baby mouse, later to be known as the one and only Mighty Mouse.
I also would like to dedicate this story to a "Mighty" good friend of mine, BC Davis, for helping me understand that I can write a good MM story and for being a "Mighty" good friend to me, Thank you BCJ

"The "Mighty" Beginning"
A Mighty Mouse story
By: Neil B. Beck,
"Mighty Mouse"
In the history of the world there are heroes. Some are known for being brave on the job, such as firemen, doctors, police officers, etc. Some are known for valor in battle such as General Grant in the Civil War and the George Washington in the Revolutionary War. Some are known for standing up for their beliefs such as Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks, those who signed the Constitution such as Ben Franklin, in Philadelphia as well are know as heroes.
Sports stars such as Michael Jordan, Babe Ruth, Jerry Rice and others are known as heroes for setting records, winning games and championships in their respected sports. Jackie Robinson is known as a hero for being brave enough to play the sport that he loved even though he was tormented by other players just because of his color.
Now, being a "Super Hero" is something else. These beings posses abilities greater than anyone. They are stronger and faster, weapons don’t harm them, they sometimes can even fly, without the use of wings or a plane. Super Man is one of these such beings. However, all of these people are people, men and women, but what about animals? Well, there is one such animal, a mouse known as Mighty Mouse. For decades he has saved the day all threw out the world, performing feats of super-human strength and ability of witch no other animal is able to, no other human for that matter, unless he or she is "super-human".
Keep in mind he is a mouse. In the history of animals, mice are usually known as small and weak, an easy target for a predator, such as a cat, owl, wolf, etc. Well, not this mouse. Mighty Mouse is about the size of a normal mouse, however he is very muscular, strong, built, powerful arms and legs and a chest that is of Titanic measures, it’s amazing that he can see his own feet. This mouse is large and in charge.
He wears a red cape with red boots and yellow and red tights, that shows his muscle and power perfectly. Along with this he wears a black belt and white gloves that always seem to stay clean. It is what the experts say as "traditional Super Hero attire", but it still looks cool.
He is a mouse of might indeed, possessing super-human strength and speed, different types of visions such as x-ray vision and the ability to fly. He also is able to use some sort of mind control, witch he uses on some occasions such as waking people out of trances.
He also uses a calling to let animals and people know that help is on the way. He sings, "Here I come to save the day!" When who ever it is that he is saving hears this they become excited, not only because they know that they are about to be saved, but because they know that they can get a glimpse of this incredible mouse in action. When the bad guys hear this they pretty much wet their pants. You see, no weapon can harm him and trying to fight him is a VERY bad idea, you see Mighty Mouse is built harder than steel. And he is a very good fighter, he could knock out any heavy weight boxer with one punch.
And now that you know a bit about Mighty Mouse, your probably wondering, "How did this mouse become so powerful?" "Why is he the only mouse with these powers?" Well, for the answer to these questions we must go back a long, long time ago before the age of super heroes.
"The Story Begins"
Deep in the woods of Pennsylvania there lived a witch. Her name was Gazelle. She was not like the witches that you heard of in fairy tales or legends. She was not evil, she didn’t cackle when she laughed, she never road on a broom or dressed in the traditional witch’s attire, in fact she wore a beautiful red gown, she didn’t even own a black cat. However she was lonely. She was miles and miles away from any town and she was alone. She had two older sisters, but they moved, one to Massachusetts and the other to Maryland, years ago. They were evil as well, when they moved they told her to stay back because she did not share their evil beliefs. They were more of the traditional witches, they dressed like them and always cackled wickedly. One lived in the woods of Salem, Mass and was blamed for causing evil in the town, she was almost killed, but she escaped in the woods. The other sister moved to a town called Blair, MD and was accused of luring children into the woods to do evil upon them.
Gazelle was very upset that her sisters were causing so much trouble. They gave witches everywhere a bad name and image. Not all witches are evil and now people were hunting and killing them, evil or not. She wanted to do something to prove that a witch can make something good and pure with their magic. She also wanted a companion. Gazelle also loved animals, she was particularly fond of the smaller ones. They reminded her of herself and witches in general, hunted and misunderstood.
One day, as she strolled in the woods, she heard a small crying sound coming from under a bush. When she looked under the bush she saw a very small baby mouse. It seemed abandoned, she thought that perhaps its parents were killed somehow as there was no sign of another mouse around. She knew that a mother would never leave a newborn alone. So she gently picked up the baby mouse and carried it home.
Once home, she noticed that the baby mouse was male and very hungry. "My but you have mighty good lungs little one", said Gazelle as she filled a small cup with some milk. She also grabbed some nuts and berries. The baby mouse ate and drank and ate and drank some more. "My but you are a hungry one, well eat all you want, you need your energy. You must be scared, but you needn’t worry about me, I won’t hurt you, my name is Gazelle,
I’m not quite sure what your name is, but I’m sure that it must be very dignified, for such a brave little guy as yourself."
After the baby mouse finished his meal Gazel took him and placed him in a very small bed, which she made for him, made of feathers and straw. The baby mouse curled up and quickly fell asleep. "And you should be tired", whispered Gazelle as she watched over the baby mouse, "You had a busy day."
Gazelle was happy to have a companion, however she felt bad for the baby mouse as his mom and dad were most likely killed by another animal in the woods. Thinking of this she also started thinking of the children and other people that her sisters harassed. She then started thinking of the other animals in the woods, such as other mice, who were hunted by the other, larger animals. "It just isn’t fair", she thought, "Why does it have to be this way? Why can’t there be something that can put an end to all of this violence, and protect the innocent and the weak?" She then looked at the sleeping baby mouse and thought, "What if there was such a being? Something small, but powerful, powerful enough to rid the world of evil. Something, or some one or some animal. Why not?"
Quickly Gazelle started mixing together a small potion. She used all sorts of things, some recognizable, such as berries, feathers and different sorts of leafs and minerals, some not recognizable such as different powders and liquids. It had a weird smell and color to it as well. She only made enough for one serving, she didn’t want it to fall in evil hands, or paws. She also knew that the affects of it would take a few years to show, but they would last forever, giving what ever takes it incredible powers and the ability to fly (i.e. the feathers). But, who ever takes it must have a heart that is pure and good-natured. She knew that the baby mouse’s heart was just that.
In the morning, once the mouse woke up, Gazelle fed the mouse the potion along with some milk and berries. At first the mouse twitched and turned his head. "I know that it probably tastes bad, but trust me, you shall love what it dose in your future little one", said Gazelle as she fed the baby mouse.
Well, time past and close to a year after Gazelle fed the baby mouse with the potion, she started to think that perhaps the mouse would be better off growing up with a mom and dad which were his own kind, mice. Even though she knew that she would miss her little friend, she knew that she had to do what was best for him. So she set out with the baby mouse in a basket, which she made for the journey, to find good parents for him. Before she left, she grabbed one of her older sister’s coat and hat, because she did not want to be recognized and she felt that it might scare of would be attackers.
She walked and walked for, in rain and shine, night and day. Finally, during a "dark and stormy night", she spotted a tree with a door. It was located just around the border between Pennsylvania and New York. She noticed that there were two mice inside. An older couple, kind looking, and alone, no other children. "Perfect", she thought. She headed for the door, but before she knocked she looked down at the sleeping baby mouse and spoke softly, "You’ll grow up brave and strong my little mighty one. You’ll soon forget me, however I shall never forget you. You are truly a "Mighty Mouse""
She then placed the basked on the doorstep and, using the door handle, knocked on the door hardly and rapidly. She quickly hid behind a tree as the door was answered by the couple. When they noticed that there was no one there they looked down and noticed the basket with a note, which Gazelle attached to before she placed it down. After reading the note, they opened a cloth wrapped on top and saw the baby mouse inside. The baby mouse woke up and started to cry. Immediately the couple took him in their home.
When she saw this, Gazelle knew that the baby mouse was in good hands. She smiled and thought that it was funny the way that the baby mouse cried the way he did when Gazelle herself found him under the bush.
We all know the rest of the story. The young mouse grew and learned of his powers. Soon after he set out to protect the mice, other animals and people of the world and, in doing so, rid the world of evil and evil doers as the one and only, legendary Mighty Mouse.
The, "Mighty", End
