 Harpsichord Plays Again

Virginia was delighted to have her harpsichord repaired by the well known East Coast Harpsichord Builder, Willard Martin.  For the first time in years she can use her 4 foot as well as her 8 foot bank of strings.  Willard has a shop in Bethlehem - not far from the Steel plant.  He supplies harpsichords to the AEM's summer workshops that many of us are familiar with.

Charles Recomments Local Shop for Recorder Repairs

Windworks Studio at 244 S.22nd St (near Rittenhouse Square) specializes in the restoration and precision repair of clarinets, flutes and other fine woodwind instruments.   It is run by 2 lovely, caring, and technically astute women, Beverly Hawkins and Lindsey - their shop is a delight to be in.

Beverly made very careful and fine repairs to an old Roessler wood bass recorder that I left in her care.    She extensively researched and consulted with others regarding the seemingly endless unique issues particular to this model instrument and brought it back its original condition.  Keypads were replaced, windways and tone holes smoothed out and/or filled in, and key levers repaired amongst other "fine tuning" repairs. I believe that they are a great resource for any local recorder players needing intricate repair or restoration of their recorders.
