SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Virginia Division, United Daughters of the Confederacy (UDC), offers a number of scholarships to residents of the Commonwealth of Virginia for use in Virginia schools, colleges, and universities. Scholarships listed as "vacant" are to be filled, if possible, by the Committee on Education for the academic year 2003-2004.

The amount of each scholarship awarded or reawarded will depend on the income earned on scholarship investment funds. A check made payable to the college or university for the entire annual amount of the scholarship awarded or reawarded will be sent to the Financial Aid Office on or about August 15, 2003. Students who apply for scholarships through Virginia Division are asked to comply with these published rules for applying and to help the UDC in promoting its educational work among lineal descendants of Confederate Veterans, present or former members of the Children of the Confederacy, members of the UDC, and children of UDC members (living or deceased).

If you meet the criteria outlined in the Qualifications section and are interested in receiving information on how to apply for a Virginia Division scholarship, please fill out and submit the electronic form at the bottom of this page or contact Mrs. George W. Bryson (BRYSDALE@aol.com) at 10103 Rixeyville Road, Culpeper, VA 22701-4422 (please include one self-addressed 9x12 envelope with 83 cents postage).

The UDC General Organization offers scholarships on a national basis to those seeking higher education in the United States. The deadline for submission of General scholarship applications is February 15 of each year. General scholarship information can be obtained from the United Daughters of the Confederacy at http://hqudc.org/.
