Congratulations to Ex-Virginia Division President Beth Huffer (left), who was elected to the office of Vice President General; UDC President General Suzanne Silek (center), who received the prestigious Robert E. Lee Award from Virginia Division CofC on Welcome-Historical Evening; and current Virginia Division President John Adams (right), who won the Senior Catechism Quiz for the second year in a row and was elected Second Vice President General.

Centennial-Maury Chapter President Sharon Maupin, mother of Virginia Division CofC Vice President Jamie Maupin, organized the first-ever Division charter bus trip to General Convention. Eleven Division members, three CofC alumni, assorted parents (including one dad and one grandmother), and the President General of the UDC joined the group as it made its way from Virginia through Tennessee and into Alabama for the three-day convention.

66th Annual Virginia Division Convention
Lynchburg, Virginia
June 14-15, 2002The 66th Annual Convention of the Virginia Division, Children of the Confederacy, was held on Friday and Saturday, June 14-15, 2002, at the Wingate Inn in Lynchburg, Virginia. Lucy Mina Otey Chapter 892 served as hostess, assisted by the ladies of Kirkwood Otey Chapter 10, Virginia Division UDC.
On Friday afternoon, attendees were treated to a tour of Lynchburg's Old City Cemetery. Friday night featured a picnic supper courtesy of Kirkwood Otey Chapter (with surprise guest "Eddie Spaghetti"), followed by the traditional pool party. The next day, after conducting its business session, the Division elected officers for the 2002-2003 year. Mr. John D. Adams, a member of Antonia Ford Chapter #885, was elected to the presidency.
Total registration for the convention was 102, with CofC members outnumbering UDC members for the first time in recent memory!
