VIRGINIA DIVISION ESTABLISHES SCHOLARSHIP IN MEMORY OF MARTHA ANTHONY

At its 2002 convention, Virginia Division, United Daughters of the Confederacy, voted to establish an unrestricted scholarship in memory of Miss Martha A. Anthony, Honorary President of Virginia Division. Miss Martha, a member of Mary Anna Jackson Chapter 2178 and a recipient of both the Jefferson Davis Historical Gold Medal and the Winnie Davis Medal, passed away in 2002. Known throughout the Division for her work as a poet and an historical essayist, she served as Division Recorder of Crosses of Military Service from 1979 to 1981 and from 1983 to 1985. She was was elected to the office of Honorary President in 1996.
The Division is currently raising funds for the scholarship through a variety of activities, including Confederate bazaars held at Division conventions. Anyone wishing to make a donation to the corpus may send a check, made out to Treasurer, Virginia Division UDC, to:
