Image Processing

Frame Averaging

This feature requires only a few seconds to average up to 32 frames of video data and improve the signal-to-noise ratio of live and/or captured images, dramatically enhancing the image quality.

"the best approach to noisy images, when it is available, is simply to collect more signal and improve the statistics." - John C. Russ, The Image Processing Handbook.

Range Adjustment

By adjusting the dynamic range of the image data, areas normally too bright or too dark are easily observable.

Strata-Montage

stra'ta n. pl. of stratum.

stra'tum n. [pl. stra'ta, stra'tums] a layer, as of the earth's crust, of the atmosphere, of a microscope sample, etc.

mon·tage' n. the combination of elements of different pictures, esp. photographic.

This function montages multiple strata of the microscope sample by extracting the "in focus" portions of each image plane and merging many planes to provide an extended depth of field image.

Plano-Montage

plane adj. level; flat. --n. 1, a flat or level surface. 2, a grade or level, as of thought, etc. 3, an airplane. 4, a tool for smoothing wood. 5, a type of tree, as the sycamore. --v.t. smooth with a plane. --v.i. to glide, as in a hydroplane.

mon·tage' n. the combination of elements of different pictures, esp. photographic.

This function "stitches" multiple images into one large image much like a planetary surface map.

Auto-Locate

Use the power of image processing to locate features of interest. Automatically determine the x,y coordinate of alignment features or fiducials, or use this method to view a large area of a sample holder and let the computer determine where the actual area of interest lies.
