Principles of Broadcast Technology

Course Description
This course provides an overview of the technologies associated with radio and television broadcasting. Included are as series of presentations on traditional AM, FM and TV techniques, new emerging digital radio and TV systems, both terrestrial and satellite, and Internet broadcasting. A special "Broadcast Management" segment is included to enhance management skills. Field trips to broadcast facilities within the Washington, DC metropolitan area are conducted. Selected manufacturers of broadcast equipment and professional engineers from the IEEE Broadcast technology Society and the U.S. International Broadcasting Bureau will present lectures and seminars on the latest technologies within the field.
Participant Learning Objective
This course is aimed at engineers who are faced with planning, developing or expanding broadcast facilities and infrastructures within their home countries. Upon successful completion of this course, the participants should be able to evaluate, advise and/or determine the technology, system, and types of equipment best suited and relevant to their specific needs.
