Summer Job Opportunities

GENERAL INFORMATION:

Applicants must be at least 14 years old before their first day of work.

Hours are 7:30 AM to 5:30 PM.

Counselor Pay is $99.00 per week.

All employees will have the opportunity to participate in a daily riding lesson.

All camp employees shall bring a healthy, brown bag lunch to work. Morning and afternoon snacks will be provided by the camp.

Employees must have reliable transportation to work each day.

All employees must attend a one day training program prior to opening day of camp, for the purpose of planning our days and duties, and learning CPR and the Himlich Maneuver.

CAMP COUNSELOR:

Each Counselor is responsible for supervising a small group of campers during all phases of the camp day. (S)He will help the campers prepare for and ride in the lesson, will participate during barn hour, and will supervise and play games with the campers.

Counselors will eat lunch with their campers, and afterwards supervise them while they change for swimming or do crafts. Counselors may swim with the campers, if they choose, but their job will be to aid the life guard. Counselors will have to decide among themselves who will swim and who will do games and crafts.

BARN MANAGER:

The Barn Manager is responsible for helping the riding instructor with the horses. (S)He shall help prepare them for lessons, and maintain the stalls during the day. (S)He is also responsible for teaching "Barn Hour" to small groups of campers. Barn Hour will include such things as grooming, care of tack, learning the parts of the horse, horse care, first aid & feeding. Campers will be coming in groups by riding ability level and the Barn Manager must prepare the lessons accordingly.

LIFE GUARD:

The Life Guard shall be responsible for the safety of all the people in the pool area, when it is open for swimming. The Life Guard shall have Red Cross Certification. The Life Guard shall be responsible for giving 1 hour group swimming lessons to 2 groups of campers (up to 8 campers each), and shall supervise and prepare fun swimming games and activities for the "Free Swim" hour. Also, pool safety must be taught.

The Life Guard shall be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the pool and surrounding area, help maintain the lawn, and see that campers pick up after themselves and follow all safety rules.

The Life Guard may ride in one of the morning lessons, if desired.

The Life Guard is  required to be on the premises 1/2 hour before the pool is open, and until the "clean-up" jobs are done.
