The U.S. Exporters Spring 2000 regular season has come
to an end, and we finished with a strong 12-4-2 record.
Two of our four losses were by one run and, combined
with the two ties, it would have been possible for us
to have had a 16-2-0 season if the ball had fallen
our way a little more. Nonetheless, we blemished the
records of the division leaders, but remained just a
hair shy of where we really wanted to be.

Kevin Gary was our leader both on the bench and on the
field. Although he paced the team in several hitting
categories, including batting average and RBI, it was
the immeasurable things that he did for the team that
helped earn him the Spring 2000 U.S. Exporters Most
Valuable Player award. In a season that had its share
of disappointments, Kevin always kept the morale of the
team in peak performance--and he led us by the strength
of his example on the bench and on the field!

With Kevin's departure to Arizona, we will all lament
his loss to our team. Kevin was, is, and always will
be, one of the most popular players to ever wear the
U.S. Exporters "Royal Blues."

While we regret the departure of Kevin Gary, the team
celebrates the arrival of rookie sensation Chris
Huckleberry! Chris distinguished himself in the pre
season with his rocket throwing arm, powerful bat, and
full throttle hustle. The Spring 2000 Rookie of the
Year and co-winner of the Spring 2000 Best Glove Award
is believed to be destined to break some team records
--and win some championships--in the near future.

Jeff Donald played everywhere his glove was needed
this year. Jeff is normally the team's starting second
baseman, but he was called upon to play shortstop in
the critical Stuart Grey game, and he distinguished himself
with hard work and skillful fielding. When outfielder
Joe Wiedorfer pulled his hamstring muscle, the team turned
to Jeff to stabilize the outfield in a critical situation.
Jeff also found himself playing the third base hot corner
late in the season. And who on this team will forget Jeff's
incredible play during the June 13 game with the Dawgs?

Hustle, hard work, and skill characterizes both of the
men who hold the Best Gloves this season. Congratulations,
Jeff and Huck!

NEW U.S. EXPORTERS SONGBIRD

The Spring 2000 karaoke winner is John "Crash" Gulisano, who whiffed twice this season (on May 2 and June 20). As a special incentive, John will be able to choose two 'choir boys' to join him on the stage from among the following list of U.S. Exporters who also struck out this season: Tom Meldrum (May 2), Alan Boyd (May 9), J.D. Daunt (May 16), Dave Cammarota (May 23), Tom Lindamood (May 30), Erik Lundquist (May 30), Kelvin Foreman (June 13), and John Thompson (June 20). John claims that he will be on a business trip until July 10, but we can wait...Kelvin Foreman owes us from last year! So, let us plan to join John for a song at the Foxhole on Tuesday July 11 after the tournament games scheduled for that night. This should be rather entertaining!

on Thursday June 29 that the U.S.
Exporters and Sports Pub/Finlay will
be considered "tied for second place"
after he confirms that our teams split
the season series. Both teams finished
with 26 points. Ed says that he will
purchase two second place trophies.]
