1) Exporters vs Taters
The Exporters opened the night with hot bats scoring 9 in the first
inning with Blake and Dan hit homers. After that they went ice cold
only scoring 5 more runs in the final two innings. The defense held the
Taters scoreless in the first two inning before they found their groove
and exploited the Exporters only having 3 in the outfield. In the
nightcap, with Kelly taking the mound to give them a different look, but
the same result. The Taters exploited the gaps in the outfield.
The hitting drought continued in the opening game. 3 runs will never be
enough to win in this league. Nate brought in all 3 runs in the first
inning with a towering shot to left-center. Game 2 went better, but we
gave the game away when a base running mistake by a pinch runner cost us
the game ending run in the fifth inning. It allowed the Lollygaggers to
come back and win by one run.
3) Exporters vs Bums
The Exporters managed only 4 hits in being shutout by the Bums in the
opening game of the night. The second game saw Nate hit two 3-run
homers to keep the game manageable for awhile. However, it was not
enough to hold off a solid hitting Bums team.
In the opener, Alex homered twice and Trent added another, but a total of 8 runs was not enough to overcome the Donks 15 runs. Trent hit another homer in game 2 along with one from Dan, but again not enough hitting led to another loss.
Poor fundamentals led to the Exporters losing both games to the Upper Deckers.
Game 1 featured a lot of hitting by both teams. Trent went 4-4 with two
homers including a grand slam. Alex added another, but we were
outslugged by the Dukes in a 28-19 loss. In the nightcap, the Exporters
started strong. Brenden opened with a double. Blake homered to bring
him in. Alex tripled into the corner with Kelly singling him in. Then
Trent hit another 2-run blast. Unfortunately, those 5 runs were all that
the Exporters could get across the plate and dropped the game 18-5.
The Exporters exploded for 13 runs in the first inning powered by a
2-run shot from Brandon and a grand slam by Dan. They added 9 more runs
in the later innings and cruised to a 22-15 victory. In the second
game, the hits continued with the Exporters scoring in every inning.
On a sloppy, wet field, the Exporters had many missed defensive
opportunities and lacked hitting. This led to them dropping both games
against the Lollygaggers.
