1) Quinn's/Dudley's Exporters vs Dukes played on 04/02/2018
On a cold April evening, the Exporters were swept in their season
openers by the strong bats of the Dukes. With many new players, the
Exporters were experimenting on defense and at bat. Rookie Eugene Amor hit
several balls hard to the outfield including the first homer of the
season. However, on one shot off the fence he only got a single because
he forgot to run while admiring his hit. Eric Fejka had good control on the
mound. This included inducing 5 outs for homers over the limit in the
second game.
Core Sports swept the Exporters on a miserable cold night with light
rain. The Exporters never really got started at the plate in game one
against a very good-hitting team. We opened well in the second game
with a lead off homer by Nate that was soon followed by a grand slam
from Kelly before the bat went silent again.
3) Quinn's/Dudley's Exporters vs Fighting Penguins played on 04/23/2018
The Exporters bats warmed up with the warmer weather with stronger
hitting throughout the lineup. In the opener, the game was tied at 9 at
the end of the third. Each team added one run in the fourth. The
Penguins took a two run lead in the top of the fifth. The Exporters
quickly got one run back when Roger singled in Brandon who had tripled
before him. The coach then inserted the speedy Blake as a courtesy
runner. Unfortunately, the Exporters could not push the tying run
across the plate. However, the Exporters took that momentum into the
second game and exploded for 16 runs in the first two innings and 9 more
in the next two coasting to a 25-12 victory. Four triples were hit by
Exporters in that game with two of them from Kelly and one each by
Brandon and Blake.
The Exporters started slow, but then poured it on in the nightcap. The
team was powered by Nate who went 5 for 5 with 2 homers and a triple.
While the team had trouble pushing runs across in the first game,
everyone contributed in the second game. The team is definitely
starting to gel and play better.
In a pair of quick games highlighted by small-ball, the Quinn's
Exporters managed to win both games with strong final innings. With a
slim 4-2 lead entering the top of the fifth, the boys in blue sent 15
men to the plate scoring 11 runs highlighted by back-to-back homers by
Eugene and Blake. In the bottom half of the inning, they slowed down
Medium Pace to hold them scoreless and close out the game. The nightcap
was similarly low scoring until the final inning. Trailing 7-3 going
into the last inning with Kelly a little anxious to leave for his late
shift at work, he stayed to take his at bat so we didn't have to take an
out if he left. The first four batters all got hits and scored two
runs. Kelly was up with runners on second and third. He wanted to end
it with a walk off homer. The first pitch he fouled off down the first
base line. He was visibly upset with himself for missing a pitch he
believed he should have put over the right field fence. He returned to
the box and laced a ball in the hole between first and second scoring
both runners to tie the game. Asked if he wanted a courtesy runner so
he could get to his job, Kelly shook it off and said, "No, I'm fine."
Eric then flew out to left center. Josh stepped up to the plate and hit
a ball deep in the hole to short. The shortstop had a late throw that
went wide of first. We guess that Kelly really needed to get to his job
because he never stopped going from first all the way home on the overthrow
scoring the winning run to end the game.
6) Quinn's/Dudley's Exporters vs Government Mules played on 6/18/2018

We welcomed back Glen Maes in his return from a rehab assignment in
Colorado. Unfortunately, it was against WCB which had a very good
hitting and fielding team. Bright spots on the night included 3 infield
double plays with Huy showing his quickness on the pivot throws from
second base. Additionally, the Exporters showed off some power despite
not having Nick and Kelly in the lineup. We had a total of 7 homers.
In the first game, Brandon, Eugene and Trent all put one over the fences
at Quincy. In the nightcap, Nate hit one out along with 3 hit by Blake
who had an incredible night.
8) Quinn's/Dudley's Exporters vs Big Sticks played on 6/26/2018
In a pair of exciting games, the Exporters eked out a pair of one-run
wins against a Big Sticks team with only 9 men. Trent held down
shortstop and turned a pair of 6U-3 double plays. The power continued
for the Exporters with the left-side hitting Brandon flying one over the
short right field fence. Eugene went the longer way over left field in
game 1. In game 2, Eugene hit two more over left field and Nate and
Trent each hit one. The night ended on a play that was not captured on
video. With 2 outs and 2 men on in the bottom of the last inning, a
weak infield pop-up was hit. Trent called the ball several times, but
Eric backed up from the pitcher's mound. Just before a collision, Trent
sat flat on the ground while Eric reached high for the catch to end the
game and cement the win.
