1) Quinn's/Dudley's Exporters vs Badabing played on 09/05/2018
The Exporters saw the return of Jason and Jose to the team and Jose made
an emphatic statement that he is back with a 12 RBI and 3 home run
night. That included a grand slam on the first pitch he saw this
season. The team used all of the allotted homers for the night and
Blake sent 3 more over the fence for outs. Upgrades at several
positions should make the team very competitive in this division. While
the Exporters showed much improvement winning the opener handily, they
could not hold off a late rally by BadaBing in the last inning of the
nightcap and ended that game in a tie.
The Exporters looked good in their first games after a month of rainouts. The bats were alive with good hitting throughout the lineup. Nick, Trent and Richard homered in the first game. Jose and Blake added homers in game 2. Trent's bat was on fire going 6 for 7 with 9 RBIs. With upgraded hitting and solid defensive play, the Exporters are looking to compete seriously for the championship this season.
The Exporters suffered the curse of playing a short-handed team. CCSP started with 8 players and got a ninth by the third inning of the first game. Rather than take advantage of the wide open gaps, we hit right at them. The power outage hurt in both low-scoring games.
The early start forced us to begin with 8 players. Again, a lack of hitting and mental errors running the bases cost us runs.
"Roger, Your opponent for tonight’s softball games will not be able to field a team and will need to forfeit. They apologize for the inconvenience. Ryan Amato Sports Programmer"
On a cold night, the Exporters bats began coldly in a very fast game of
small-ball. The game was close until the Exporters bats came to life in
the 6th inning with 6 runs on 3 homers which sealed the win. In the
second game, Jason fell ill and had to be removed from the game in the
second inning. Eric took over on the mound and finished the game. The
Exporters were mounting a comeback in the bottom of the last inning.
Eric singled with one out. Trent was put in as a courtesy runner for
his speed. Nate doubled putting runners on second and third. However,
the runners and coaches missed the swift intentional walk of Andrew to
load the bases. When Ben hit the first pitch weakly toward the pitcher,
confusion reigned on the runners leading to a disappointing double play
to end the game.
A short-handed Exporters team was swept by the costumed Diamond Donks.
Eric was credited for 5 strikeouts in the evening all tallied because of
excess homers hit by the Donks. Trent, Nate, Nick and Jose all homered
that night, but it wasn't enough to beat the Donks.
As a result of the wet weather we experienced yesterday, the field maintenance team has informed me that fields will be closed today- Friday, November 16 and tomorrow- Saturday, November 17.
As a result all games scheduled for these dates have been canceled.
Unfortunately at this time we are out of available dates for reschedules. You will receive a prorated refund for these games along with the others that were canceled earlier this week. We will begin processing the refunds following the conclusion of the season (currently scheduled for next Tuesday, November 20)."
