Not enough runs and too many walks led to the Exporters split with Fifth Base.
Having a make-shift outfield with 2 injured players made for a long night. Once again the team had difficulty adjusting to the new balls on offense. We just aren't getting enough hits yet. Lack of run production led to a pair of losses to A-Town which is a good team. Hopefully, we will figure it out and get back to putting runs on the board every inning.
It was a rough evening with a makeshift lineup. We lacked consistent
hitting and played poorly in the field giving Ping five or six outs in
many innings. Jason and Max both hit homers, but not enough offense to
ever threaten.
We are better
than we are playing. We need people healthy and playing.

Just not enough to get the job done. Again, a makeshift outfield. Again, we gave them extra outs. Hitting was a little better, but not there yet.
Exporters sweep Disrupt Fitness as their bats awoke with 5 home runs
including a grand slam in each game. Several more hits went off the
fence. Brian returned from rehab and had a home run taken away by the
umpire who looked at the landing site of the ball rather than seeing it
fly by the inside of the foul pole. Glen's stamina continues to improve
with each game. He walked two batters early in the first inning, then
settled down and returned to form. In the nightcap, we jumped out early
with 11 in the first inning. In the bottom of the inning, the opponent
only saw 4 pitches and went down in order which seemed to depress for
the rest of the game.
Exporters offense is not where it needs to be to win games. We dropped another pair of games against the CCSP Empty Pitchers. Glen's pitching strength
continues to improve with each week, but we are not providing him with enough run support this year.
Not enough hitting caused us to lose both of these games. We needed to
win one of them to make the playoffs.
We managed to take advantage of a short-handed Update Sunday and
exploited the holes they gave us. At least we ended the season on a
high note.
Men - As I suspected, we missed the playoffs by one win with a record of 5 - 13. Our spring season is over. No playoffs this year. I will be in touch soon about the fall season which would begin on Tuesday, August 12. Roger
