The U.S. Exporters played the always tough
Quarterdeck team on May 18, and swept them!
Ed Frank parked a three run homer in the bottom
of the third inning of the first game, and the
runs he produced proved to be the game winners.
This was the kind of leadership the U.S. Exporters
desperately needed on this night, given the
absence of so many of our other regular players.
Other splendid performances included Pat Drury
and Dave Cammarota, both of whom went four for
four at the plate in the second game.
Speaking of the second game, that was truly an
unusual experience. The U.S. Exporters had 22
hits, only one of which went for extra bases
(John Thompson's leadoff triple in the first
inning).
Jim Rodriguez "powered" the GWRBI in the 5th
inning of the second game, and then the
defense took over and held Quarterdeck off.
